Casey Thompson transferring again; 5 landing spots for QB
3. BYU
The Cougars found mild success using the transfer portal to add a quarterback this season with the play of grad transfer Kedon Slovis. However, with Slovis exhausting his eligibility, the quarterback situation is tenuous in Provo. Backup quarterback Jake Retzlaff, who utilized his redshirt during the year, had mixed results under center for BYU. He completed 50% of his passes for 648 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions, while running for 116 yards and three scores during his four games with the Cougars, which could leave the coaching staff wanting more.
For Thompson, he has a loose connection to the BYU staff. His older brother, Kendal, found his greatest success at the University of Utah in 2014-15 under quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick, who now serves as the offensive coordinator for the Cougars. If Kendal has good things to say about Roderick, perhaps Casey would be interested in joining him in Provo.
