Chambersburg Trojan golfers swing through season
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Chambersburg Trojan golfers took a swing at the District Golf Championships at Honey Run Golf Course, but weren’t able to qualify for the PIAA Championships.
In the first-day girls competition, the Trojans’ Emily Rensch shot an 80, 8 over par, on the par 72 course. During her round, Rensch birdied No. 15 and had only one double bogey.
Emma Tolbert moved on with a 91. She had nines of 45-46. Teammate Alaina Morris shot 100 and was knocked out.
Trojan coach Mark Yost said, “Emily is right there, even though she made a few miscues on the final few holes.”
On the final day of competition, Rensch finished tied for 11th, which was two places over the cut score. Rensch shot 91 on Saturday and was 27-over par. Teammate Emma Tolbert shot a 98 on the second day and placed 16th.
On the boys’ side, Jeremy Otto shot an 81, which put him at 13-over par for the two days, 6 strokes over the qualifying score.
All of the local golfers — in fact the majority of all players — had a higher score on Saturday on a course softened by overnight and morning rain.
