Twins from India, Avaneesh and Aarush Kamath, join LSUE men鈥檚 soccer
EUNICE, La. — Avaneesh and Aarush Kamath are pursuing a dream of playing soccer at the highest level in US. Born in North Carolina, they were introduced to soccer by their father at the age of 3 years old. Passion for soccer continued when their family moved back to Bengaluru, India when they were 6 years old.
At 12, Aarush got selected for Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC), India’s best residential soccer academy. Avaneesh got selected the next year. RFYC provides world class infrastructure and the coaches come from UK, Spain, Brazil, Japan and India. RFYC expects their student athletes to do well in academics while improving in soccer. This focus from the academy helped the twins score 90%+ marks in their high school. With a match every weekend to playing tournaments in Spain, UK, Japan, RFYC provided them with the right mix of exposure while building a top class work ethic on and off the field.
The twins attended soccer ID camps and got positive reviews from quite a few 4 year colleges and JUCOs. Coach Wolf had seen the boys in the camp and spoke to the boys at length. The boys were comfortable with Coach Wolf’s style of play and his expectations of them. LSUE has a great soccer team and in 2023 season, they rose to ranking # 4 in the nation and played in the National Championship as well. The twins are very rare soccer players coming from India and hope that their journey would be able to encourage other student athlete player families in India to follow there footsteps.
