5 possible landing spots for free agent RHP Aaron Nola
1. St. Louis Cardinals
After years of dominance in the NL Central, the Cardinals faltered in 2023, going just 71-91 in what was a lost season in St. Louis. The Cardinals have a lineup built to compete right now, but the pitching staff will need to be addressed. This past season, St. Louis had the seventh-worst team ERA in the league (4.79) and the fourth-worst WHIP (1.46). The likes of Miles Mikolas, Steven Matz and Dakota Hudson aren鈥檛 necessarily bad arms, but none seem to be ace material. The Cardinals will also lose longtime starter Adam Wainwright who retired following the 2023 season. Nola could be the perfect guy to fill that gap, and would give the Cardinals the ace pitcher they need to stabilize their rotation and contend again in the NL Central.
