10 teams with the best chance to reach Final Four in 2023-24
3. UConn Huskies
Danny Hurley has built something special at UConn and it led to a surprising national championship last season – the program’s fifth title in the last 25 years. The Huskies lost Adama Sanogo, Jordan Hawkins and Andre Jackson Jr. from last year’s squad, which is likely why they aren’t quite a top-five-ranked team going into the season. Yet, Hurley should be able to replace them with a top-five recruiting class that includes five-star guard Stephon Castle.Â
Meanwhile, UConn returns plenty of talent from last year as well headlined by 7-foot-2 center Donovan Clingan, senior Tristen Newton and sharpshooter Alex Karaban. The Huskies also added another tremendous shooter into the fold in Cam Spencer via the transfer portal. How quickly this team comes together could be a big factor in its success, and early non-conference games against Kansas, North Carolina and Gonzaga will help with that process. But by March, UConn should be tested enough to again be a dangerous tournament threat.
