Q&A with Ardrey Kell football player Chancellor Bryant
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — I am proud to feature Ardrey Kell football player Chancellor Bryant. “Chancellor is a coach’s dream. He is extremely talented in all aspects of the game and has a huge impact in each game he plays. He is a great teammate and an even better young man,” says Coach Greg Jachym. Congrats on all your accomplishments, Chancellor. Go Knights!
Name: Chancellor Bryant
School: Ardrey Kell
Year: Senior
Sport: Football
Number of years in sport: 4 years in high school, but 11 total (since he was six!)
Pregame ritual: I go into the weight room and roll out while listening to music by my favorite rap artist, Lil Baby. I make sure that I pray, have a pregame meal with the team, and just get mentally focused for the task at hand.
Mantra: Philippians 4:13- “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

What are your personal goals?
Chancellor Bryant: My personal goals are to play college football at the D1 level, win the Heisman Trophy, play in the NFL, and be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
What’s been your biggest challenge in the sport?
Bryant: The biggest challenge for me right now is coming to grips with the fact that my last season of high school football will be ending in a month or so. Although it’s bittersweet, I know that I have much to look forward to.
What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
Bryant: My grandfather always reminds me of the 5 P’s (proper preparation prevents poor performance). And that you have to pay the costs now to reap the benefits later.
What do you love about your sport?
Bryant: Football gives me the opportunity to interact and compete with some of Charlotte’s most talented athletes. It’s also an escape from the challenges that life sometimes throws my way. And I’m good at it!
What do you enjoy outside of your sport?
Bryant: Outside of football, I run track to maintain speed and agility. I spend time with my family, make sure I get some studying in, and play a video game or two.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Bryant: Everyone has a role to play in our overall success–there is no “I” in team! Also, leaders conduct themselves as a leaders even when no one is looking.
What is a mistake you’ve made, and what did you learn from it?
Bryant: My sophomore season, I was allowing my opponent’s negative talk to throw me off my game. I’ve learned to never let someone draw you out of your positive place and to always protect your peace.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Bryant: I would like to thank you for taking time out to write this article about me. I am honored. I also want to thank Coach Jachym for nominating me for this amazing experience. Thank you to all my coaches, the training staff, my teammates, and the entire AK nation, because without them, this wouldn’t be possible. And last but not least. Thank you to my Mom, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Godparents, my best friend/brother Zion Threatt, my Pastor Mack L. McRae and my entire village for your continued love and support.
