Two goals each from Giordano and Dean pace Rowan women鈥檚 soccer past Kean
GLASSBORO, N.J. — Two goals each from Olivia Giordano and Gabby Dean sparked Rowan to a 4-0 shutout win over Kean Friday evening in the NJAC opener for both squads. The game was moved up from Saturday due to the impending inclement weather.
Goalie Calista Burke recorded her third shutout this season as the junior made one saves on three Cougar shots. The Profs fired off 27 with 12 on net. Kean keeper Abigail Wing recorded six saves in 81 minutes with teammate Madison Gesualdo making two in her nine minutes of action.
Giordano’s first tally came in the 16th minute as she took advantage of a failed clearing attempt just outside the box, where she buried her sixth on the year.
It remained 1-0 into the second half before Giordano netted her seventh goal in the 66th minute on a similar play off another clearing attempt, this time deep in the Kean box.
Less than four minutes later, Dean got in on the scoring act as she buried her fourth as she was set beautifully from Manon Bada and Lianna SanFelice as the trio worked the ball with some nice touch passing just inside the box for a 3-0 lead.
Dean added her second late in the contest after a scramble on a corner kick created just enough space for the junior’s fifth goal.
The team will head to NJCU on Wednesday in conference action beginning at 4 p.m.
