Rowan volleyball clipped in three sets against Gettysburg in first day of Messiah Quad Match
GRANTHAM, Pa. — Rowan was on the wrong end of a 3-0 decision against Gettysburg (25-18, 25-23, 25-17) on the first day of the Messiah quad match.
As a team, the Profs hit 27-17-103 (.097) led by nine kills from Jena Kaul. Isabel Kirchner added seven while setter Brooke Adams dished out 21 assists. The two also had two blocks apiece.
Catherine Holtz of Gettysburg put down a match-high 10 kills with teammate Alycen Radolovic contributing nine.
In the first set, the Bullets had its largest lead at 23-13 before the Profs constructed five of the next six points but ran out of room in the 25-18 final. The two teams went back and forth in the early in the second. Kills from Kaul and Ciara Bradley helped put Rowan up 23-19 before Gettysburg ran off six points in a row to take a two-set lead.
Bradley’s kill and a block along with Adams helped the Profs to a 7-4 advantage in the third set. A 9-2 run from the Bullets seemed to turn the tide as Rowan could not climb back in it to help cement the final outcome.
Action continues tomorrow as the Profs take on Brockport at 1 p.m. and later the host Falcons at approximately 5 p.m.
