Rowan women鈥檚 soccer notches a 5-1 victory over Western Connecticut State

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The Rowan Women’s Soccer Team was victorious over Western Connecticut State, 5-1, on Sunday in the final day of the Rams Classic hosted by Farmingdale State.

Olivia Giordano scored twice, while Gabby Dean, Mackenzie Clement, and Lauren SanFelice added scores to help the Profs go to 4-0 on the season.

In the sixth minute, Manon Bada set up the first of Giordano’s two tallies on the day for a 1-0 lead, however, the Wolves answered just over four minutes later with a goal from Myah Croze.

Giordano struck again, this time in the 16th minute for her fourth on the season. Sarah Bergan drew the assist.

Clement made it 3-1 in the 23rd minute with her team-leading fifth goal this year, helping Rowan to a two-goal lead at the half while outshooting Western Connecticut, 15-5, in the first 45 minutes.

The lead grew to 4-1 after Dean’s goal in the 61st minute (double assisted by Bada and Ava Morales). SanFelice notched her first score of the year in the 74th minute to cap the Rowan scoring.

Goalie Calista Burke made five saves in over 78 minutes in net. Gemma Keesler played the final 12 scoreless minutes. Kasey Donnelly recorded 10 stops for WCSU.

Rowan will host Swarthmore on Wednesday in a 6:30 p.m. start.
