Top 10 Illinois defensive players for 2023 HS football season
1. Justin Scott, Sr., St. Ignatius
Scott enters the season once again as one of the state’s top defenders, following a junior campaign that included 42 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and both a forced fumble and fumble recovery. With plenty of teams gameplanning around the St. Ignatius star, the Ohio State commit was still able to produce at an elite level, eventually picking up selections as both the CCL-ESCC White Lineman of the Year and as a Class 6A All-State selectee. Scott will have a chance to replicate his success during his final high school season.
