8. DJ Butler, Sr., Davidson
One of the best rushers in the Class 7A last season, Butler proved he would be one of the top incoming seniors this fall. The Warriors running back recorded 184 carries for 1,338 yards and 16 touchdowns while catching 12 passes for 115 yards and two more scores. Unfortunately, this didn鈥檛 result in team success as Davidson went just 3-7 though Butler did come away with first-team all-state honors.
The 6-foot, 185-pound running back has received plenty of attention from recruiters as the consensus three-star prospect ranked as high as the No. 80 player in the state by 247Sports in the . Butler held 19 scholarship offers from the likes of Kansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, West Virginia and UCF but ultimately chose to commit to Coastal Carolina on July 2.
