When the two-time defending College Football Playoff champions are in on a recruiting battle and a player opts to instead stay in his own state, it鈥檚 a big deal. Such is the case of Nelson, rated a four-star prospect by 247 Sports and On3.
Nelson, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 215 pounds, caught 32 passes for 641 yards and 13 scores for the Bulldogs a season ago 鈥� all were team highs. The only position the versatile University of Nebraska pledge hasn鈥檛 played is center. Rated top five nationally at his position, he鈥檚 also collected offers from the likes of Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, and Michigan.
