2. TaRyan Martin, Jr., East St. Louis

East St. Louis’ powerhouse run has come largely from production throughout the team’s roster, but the Flyers running back has been a notable difference maker during his time at the high school level. Following a near 1,000-yard rushing season as a freshman, the 5-foot-8, 175-pound back would go on to outdo himself as a sophomore, reaching 1,557 yards on the ground with 24 touchdowns. After his 100-yard rushing performance in the state title game in 2021 ended in a one-point defeat for the Flyers, Martin would make sure his team wouldn’t have to go through a similar experience in 2022, boosting East St. Louis to a 6A state championship behind 175 yards and three touchdowns.
