Viral: TCU鈥檚 455-pound freshman shocks college football world
FORT WORTH, Texas (BVM) 鈥 Division I college football has no shortage of large individuals, but TCU may have uncovered the sport鈥檚 newest sensation in Brione Ramsey-Brooks.
Standing at 6-foot-5, 455 pounds, the Horned Frogs freshman offensive lineman is taking college football by storm with his hulking frame and bringing in some extra attention during TCU鈥檚 preseason work. Ramsey-Brooks found himself as the headliner of a viral social media post heading into the season that labeled the freshman as a potential fan favorite for the recent one-loss Horned Frogs.
With the program鈥檚 next biggest lineman currently measuring in at 6-foot-4, 355 pounds, it鈥檚 easy to see why people are taking notice.
I think TCU true freshman OL Brione Ramsey-Brooks is going to be a fan favorite. You can鈥檛 teach size.

The Class of 2023 three-star recruit enters the TCU program after quite the high school run, ranking just outside the top 100 interior offensive lineman in the country, . As a first-team all-district selection as a sophomore, Ramsey-Brooks would go on to help South Oak Cliff to a 15-1 record and the Texas 5A D-II state championship during his junior campaign, playing primarily as a guard on the team鈥檚 offense. He would go on to follow that up this past year, as the Golden Bears enjoyed a repeat Class 5A Division II championship behind a 13-3 campaign.

The incoming freshman nicknamed 鈥淏ig Bubba鈥 signed with the Horned Frogs over offers from schools such as Arizona, Louisville and Oregon back in December and will enter a program that just matched its most wins in a season. In a 2022 campaign that saw TCU in the national championship game following a playoff win over Michigan, the Horned Frogs will return a number of contributors across the offensive line.
With an incoming transfer in Willis Patrick and returning junior Garrett Hayes potentially locking up starting guard spots, Ramsey-Brooks will likely have to wait his turn this fall. When the time does come, opposing defenses will certainly take notice.
