Congrats to Spain Park’s award-winning dancers
LAGRANGE, Ga. — For the first time in Jaguar history, two Spain Park dance teams, The Dazzlers and The Sapphires, participated in a Universal Dance Association camp together this past June. During the camp, these teams earned Superior Trophies, Super Spirit Stick, Pin-It-Forward awards, Drill Down Queen, second-place home routine, and the leadership award.
Congrats to the three senior Dazzlers (Greystone Farms resident Bella Hatcher, Alex Fleming, and Mary Payton Everette) and five senior Sapphires (Greystone Farms residents Nellie Feese and Sage Kazinec, Ivana Caro, Je’Tia Samples, and McKenzie Perry) for earning All-American awards. Additionally, congrats to every member of the Spain Park dance teams who received the highest blue ribbons on dance evaluations.
At the camp, which was held at the Great Wolf Lodge in Georgia, dancers attended workshops and took part in fun team-building and skill-building activities. Dancers also were able to take classes from pros such as a Radio City Rockette and Brenna Hunter, a choreographer from the University of Memphis Dance Team and World of Dance!
The camp helps teams improve dance skills, and develop important life skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. At the end of the camp, both teams showcased their skills and their own unique styles in a final evaluation. The performance was a great way for the teams to display their hard work and accomplishments.
It was fun for the two different dance teams to enjoy this experience together for the first time – and Jag fans will enjoy their hard work when they see the teams perform at games this fall. While the Dazzlers are specifically a competition team, Jaguar fans will find them dancing sideline at football games. Sapphires always perform in the Pride of The Park’s halftime show and dance in the stands with the band during games. Both teams dance at pep rallies, basketball games, and local events. Additionally, Dazzlers compete for national dance team recognition, while Sapphires compete at regional matching band festivals.
