Central Illinois strong: Eva Richardson dominates the softball field

MATTOON, Ill. — Eva Richardson grew up in Casey, Illinois. She graduated from Casey-Westfield in 2021 and made her way to Lake Land College. At the local school she has made quite the name for herself on and off the softball field. Eva says “I chose Lake Land because of the great culture that has been created there within the softball program. The coaching staff is extremely knowledgeable and they pushed me to be better every day.”

This past season Eva experienced success with her blooming softball career. She was named the Region 24 Player of the Year, Region 24 1st Team All-Conference, Region 24 All Tournament Team, and the GRAC Player of the Year. She says “It feels nice knowing that my hard work has been paying off. I would not have been able to do this if the people around me didn’t push me to be the best I could be, so I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given.”

Eva plans to continue playing softball and majoring in Sports Management at a four year university after Lake Land, but she is still undecided where she will go. She says “My favorite thing about being a Laker is all the amazing friendships I’ve made over the last 2 years. I’ve made so many unforgettable memories and have met some incredible people from all around the world.”

In the meantime, Eva is passing down her skills to the next generation. This summer Eva is offering both Softball and Tennis lessons. Her experience with softball is evident, but in high school Eva was a 2 time state qualifier and 2 time All-Conference First Team in Tennis as well. If anyone is interested in learning a bit from this All-Star, you can contact her at 217-549-1876 to set up some lessons.

Eva says: “I would like to thank Lake Land College for giving me the opportunity to wear their name on my jersey and represent such an awesome program with some amazing people surrounding it. I had one offer to play softball in college and it was LLC, so I am thankful that they took a chance on me. I will forever be in debt to that program for what they have taught me.” We know you will do big things wherever you end up, Eva!
