Top 10 all-time leading rushers in Virginia HS football
1. Grayson Overstreet, Staunton River (2014-17)
The VHSL career rushing mark belongs to Overstreet and his name can be seen in many different spots in the Virginia record book. Not only does Overstreet hold the career rushing mark with 9,042 yards but he also holds the scoring record with 950 points, the rushing touchdowns mark with 142 and the most 100-yard games with 41. Following his standout career with the Golden Eagles, Overstreet joined the program at the University of Richmond.
Overstreet played four games for the Spiders as a true freshman, recording six tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss at linebacker. The two-way star transferred to Division II Emory & Henry in 2019 where he has rushed for 1,489 yards and 17 touchdowns across three seasons. While it is unclear if Overstreet will return to the Wasps for a fifth season thanks to his extra year of COVID eligibility, he has clearly found success after his record-breaking high school career.
