Top 10 all-time leading rushers in Texas HS football
1. Kenneth Hall, Sugar Land (1950-53)
While most players on this list have played within the last few decades, Hall鈥檚 incredible career at Sugar Land High School has stood the test of time for almost 70 years. The man nicknamed 鈥淪ugar Land Express鈥 broke several national records in his high school career, and his 11,232 career rushing yards were the most in the nation until Derrick Henry came along a little over a decade ago. Hall remains all over the Texas high school football record books, however, leading the state in single-season rushing yards (4,045 in 1953), while also ranking in the top 10 in single-season touchdowns (57 in 1953).
After his time at Sugar Land, Hall committed to play for Paul 鈥淏ear鈥 Bryant at Texas A&M, but would never suit up for the Aggies, instead going to the CFL to play for the Edmonton Eskimos. He then returned home to play in the NFL for the Baltimore Colts, Chicago Cardinals, Houston Oilers and St. Louis Cardinals, primarily as a kick returner and tailback. A member of the National High School Hall of Fame and Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Hall left quite a legacy in the Lone Star State with numbers that will remain toward the top of the record books forever.
