Trent Caraway remains even-keeled ahead of MLB draft
DANA POINT, Calif. (BVM) 鈥 Royce Lewis was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 draft out of JSerra Catholic High School in 2017. Now the Lions have another star that will also likely go fairly early in this year鈥檚 MLB draft.
Trent Caraway stands at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, and brings a good mix of pop and pure hitting ability at the plate. The star shortstop also has one of the best arms in his state at his position.
JSerra Catholic is set to produce yet another in 3B Trent Caraway.
The commit has hit all summer long while displaying loose hands with present bat speed and transferring weight extremely well.

has Caraway as the No. 39 player in this year鈥檚 MLB draft.
Baseball was a family affair in his household growing up with Trent鈥檚 father and his older brother both playing the sport. Trent would try it out at the recreational field right next to his house, and before long, he was hooked too.
鈥淚 started going to all the games and I was like, 鈥極h, this is sick,鈥欌 Trent said.
Some of those games included his brother鈥檚 All-Star team where they would play teams from other countries. This created great atmospheres and allowed Trent to realize just how global the game was.
鈥淔ans would come and cheer everyone on and I thought that was really cool,鈥 Trent said. 鈥淭hat was a moment I really remember.鈥
Trent became a star himself as he began playing and would soon receive the attention of colleges across the country. He did not have the traditional recruiting process due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but he was still able to find the perfect school for him in Oregon State.
Caraway announced his commitment to the Beavers as a sophomore.
Super excited to announce my commitment to Oregon State University to further my baseball and academic career. Big thank you to everyone who has been apart of the journey so far! 馃枻馃А

鈥淚 like the whole atmosphere up there with how serious the fans take it,鈥 Caraway said. 鈥淭he coaches too. It鈥檚 a great group of guys. Everyone is super relaxed and chill up there and that kind of fits my vibe.鈥
JSerra 3B Trent Caraway is a physical specimen. Hammers this pitch to straightaway center, but right at Drew Burress. He's older for the class, but it's an enticing profile. Big time power potential for the commit.

Caraway was a top guy already before this spring, but he still managed to bolster his stock after exploding his senior season. He hit .462 this year and finished with 49 hits breaking Lewis鈥 school record. Caraway was rewarded with the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of California.
excited to be named California Player of The Year!

Now he will have a real decision to make come draft time on his future. But regardless of where he winds up next spring, Caraway will still rely on the consistent work ethic that got him here.
鈥淚 would say I鈥檓 pretty even-keeled,鈥 Caraway said. 鈥淚f I鈥檓 training one day and it鈥檚 not the greatest day, I鈥檓 still out there doing it to get better. I would say my mindset doesn鈥檛 really change. Every day is a new day.鈥
