Hyland is the country’s second-most winning active high school head football coach, but his career with St. Mary鈥檚 Springs Academy didn鈥檛 start well after he went 1-15-2 in his first two seasons. He recovered, and now Hyland is not only one of the most successful coaches in Wisconsin but also in the United States, becoming just the fourth high school football coach to win over 500 games.
