10 greatest NBA players to play junior college basketball

1. Bob McAdoo, Vincennes University

Like Archibald, McAdoo didn’t have the grades to join a D-I program and so he enrolled at Vincennes where he spent two seasons. At Vincennes, McAdoo averaged 19.3 points and 10 rebounds in 1969–70 and 25.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in 1970–71. He then transferred to North Carolina for one season where he averaged 19.5 points and 10.1 rebounds.

McAdoo was selected by the Buffalo Braves with the second overall pick in the 1972 NBA Draft. Over the course of his 14-year NBA career, McAdoo was named an All-Star five times, was a three time scoring champion, was named All-NBA twice, won two titles with the Lakers, was named rookie of the year, 1974-75 MVP and a member of the league’s 75th anniversary team.
