Multi-sport athlete Evangelia Paulk creates big looks for the Asheville girls basketball team
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Whether it be varsity girls basketball, Team Carolina, or volleyball, Evangelia Paulk is working hard all year round. As a 4 year varsity starter for the girls’ basketball and volleyball teams, her natural and hard earned athletic abilities shine through during games and practices.
Paulk says, 鈥淢y favorite sport to play is basketball because of its competitive nature and the adrenaline rush of playing in front of a big crowd鈥�. And as she moves on to continue her basketball career at Wofford College, her hard work and determination will continue to be fundamental factors for her to extend her long line-up of accolades.
Averaging 18.0 points per game according to Max Preps (February 21, 2023) in 27 games played, Evangelia鈥檚 hours spent on the court have paid off big time. She finished her senior basketball season with just over 1,500 points scored in her high school career, winning a 3A state championship, making 1st team all state, conference player of the year, WNC player of the year, NC all-star, 1st team all conference, and nominee for female athlete of the year.
As she walks across the graduation stage early this month, she will be the undisputed champion of hoops in the eyes of of her teammates, coaches, and teachers. But Paulk is not the only one who has this Asheville High Basketball teams full attention. Sonetta Warren Dixion, Head Coach of the varsity girls team and Athletic Director, is a role model to the girls on her team.
Evangelia leaves off by saying: 鈥淚 look up to my high school coach because she exemplifies everything I strive to be. She鈥檚 the epitome of what passion and love for the game looks like. Knowing and being coached by her has helped me become the player that I am today.鈥�
