Top 5 WNBA Rookie of the Year candidates for 2023
1. Aliyah Boston, C, Indiana Fever
Boston is the clear front-runner after being one of the top college basketball players in the nation during her time at South Carolina. The talents that led her to a national championship, three-straight All-American selections and the Naismith College Player of the Year award should easily transfer to the WNBA. On offense, she will have a talented frontcourt partner to work alongside in NaLyssa Smith which will make it hard for defenses to decide who to focus on. The 6-foot-5 center will also make an immediate impact on defense as a two-time Naismith Defensive Player of the Year. The Fever are a young team and Boston looks to be the missing piece which means Indiana will look for her to step up almost immediately. Anything can happen during a season but right now, it seems like it鈥檚 Boston鈥檚 award to lose.
