Casey Thompson enters transfer portal; 5 landing spots for QB
1. Auburn
Just after entering the transfer portal, Thompson already had an official visit set up with Auburn. The Tigers and new head coach Hugh Freeze could use Thompson too.
Auburn does return its two most experienced passers from a year ago in Robby Ashford and TJ Finley, but neither particularly impressed as Ashford finished the year with a sub-50% completion rate and a 1:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio (seven TDs, seven INTs) while Finley only played in four games and had just 431 yards, one touchdown and four picks.
Thompson would come in and not only be the most experienced player in the quarterback room but also the one who had the most success. With one final year of eligibility, the opportunity to start for an SEC school may be too much to pass up for Thompson as he looks to continue his football career at the next level.
