Tyler Buchner enters transfer portal; 5 landing spots for QB
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (BVM) – After winning the starting quarterback role for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the beginning of last season, Tyler Buchner has had a rollercoaster of a year. In two starts to begin the season, Buchner went 28-for-50 for 378 yards and two interceptions while rushing for 62 yards and two scores on the ground. Buchner missed most of the rest of the year due to injury which kept him out until the team’s Gator Bowl game against South Carolina, but showed out during the contest going 18-for-33 for 273 yards three touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 61 yards and two more scores to earn the bowl MVP honors.

The quarterback’s rollercoaster hit another bump on Tuesday when the junior announced his plans to enter the transfer portal. This comes after the Fighting Irish added top quarterback transfer Sam Hartman from Wake Forest. With his decision to enter the portal, Buchner, a former top-100 recruit and top-10 quarterback in the Class of 2021, becomes one of the most intriguing transfer options on the market.
