How long have you been coaching?

Terese Dynjan: I have been coaching since 2012. I started coaching Ashley Hall and was with Ashley Hall until 2022. Now I coach BE.

What is your background in this sport?

Dynjan: I grew up in Arizona which is a mecca for golf so I grew up playing the game. I was the only girl on the boys golf team in High School, I played at the University of Missouri and then became a PGA professional after college. I was blessed to work for two of the best in the business, Peter Kostis and Gary McCord at their Learning Center at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale for 10 years.

Please describe the most memorable games/tournaments/championships your team has won.

Dynjan: Having not been at BE very long we are in a building phase right now. Our team last season was very young but it is exciting because I saw so much improvement and so much potential. The future looks very bright for BE girls golf.

How do you encourage the team after a disappointing loss?

Dynjan: I tell the girls always that what means more to me than winning is that the other coaches, players and parents say we are a joy to play and that our girls are kind and gracious in competition.

Describe your proudest coaching moment.

Dynjan: My proudest coaching moment was being able to witness a player who I coached at AH for 7 years sign her national letter of intent to play division 1 college golf. Watching her grow as a player and a person for 7 years and achieve her life long goal was something I will never forget. I continue to watch her success as a player at College of Charleston.

What is the biggest life lesson you’ve learned from being a coach?

Dynjan: One of my favorite quotes that I remind myself of is 鈥淏oys have to play well to feel good. Girls have to feel good to play well鈥. Boys and girls are wired differently as we know and therefore we have to coach them differently too. It is about supporting them, encouraging them, building their confidence and praising the process rather than the outcome.

What legacy do you hope to leave as a coach?

Dynjan: I hope my legacy is that I was a great coach and that I truly help them develop their games to be the best players they can be. More importantly I hope every player looks back and feels they were respected, supported, encouraged and loved. One of my favorite things is keeping in touch with old players. I have been blessed to be invited to weddings, graduations and birthday parties. Those continued relationships tell me I am doing something right!

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Dynjan: The BE community is fabulous. The sports are very well supported. The Triple B has been generous and we are grateful for their support both financial and otherwise.

Coach Terese Dynjan lives on Daniel Island with her Dog Truman, named after the Missouri Mascot, Truman the Tiger.
