Johnson is from Philadelphia and may want to come home to finish her collegiate career. Villanova is losing its star player in Maddy Siegrist, who was the catalyst for the Wildcats’ growing success over the last few years. This past season, Villanova made it to the Sweet 16 before losing to Miami. Now, the team will have to find a way to make up for the 29.2 points it’s losing with Siegrist going to the WNBA. Johnson brings offense and outside shooting, her 36.2% shooting from three is just as good as Villanova’s team average. Coming home to Philadelphia, where she was so dominant in high school, and playing for her hometown team could be the right move for Johnson as well as Villanova.
NC State’s Diamond Johnson made a big shot down the stretch, but her playmaking ability is really blossoming this season.
Finished with 5 assists tonight and made some nice defensive plays turning them into points on the fast break.
