Get to know Boyle County swimmer Clark Coyle
DANVILLE, Ky. — For some people, sports are just a pastime or hobby. For Clark Coyle, it鈥檚 a lifestyle. Clark is a 16-year-old student at Boyle County High School and is a very competitive swimmer. 鈥淚 have been swimming for twelve years, so I never remember not being able to swim,” Coyle shares. Being a part of the Kentucky Aquatics in Lexington and BCHS swim teams, Coyle is known as being extremely driven. The freshman has broken two records just this past season to prove it. He owns the fastest time ever in the 100 Butterfly in the Centre College pool, and for Boyle records, the fastest 50 Freestyle (21.20 seconds).
Success often comes from routine and intense preparation, and Coyle integrates both. For example, leading up to meets, he uses a method called tapering. Coyle explains, 鈥渨e drop our yardage in practice to feel fresh and ready to go for races.鈥 This method definitely was effective for him in the 2023 state meet, as he placed 5th in the 50 Freestyle, 5th in the 200 Freestyle relay, and 7th in the 100 Freestyle. Coyle continues to look forward to next season to improve his times even more. He wants to 鈥渨in state in an individual event and finish top 3 in a relay.鈥 He has high expectations for himself, which will propel him to break more records in the future. Coyle is already leaving a positive mark on Boyle County, and fans still have three more years to cheer him on.
