Back when he was a high school standout, Alleyne was recruited heavily by St. John鈥檚. However, that was by a different coaching staff as the Red Storm hired Rick Pitino to be the program鈥檚 next head coach. But, if Pitino is looking for an experienced guard in the portal, Alleyne would be a good fit.
Due to the coaching transition, St. John鈥檚 has lost a number of guards to the portal including Andre Curbelo, Kolby King, AJ Storr, Dylan Addae-Wusu and Posh Alexander. With a barebones roster, Pitino could use an influx of players who have the experience to make the team competitive as soon as possible. Given Alleyne鈥檚 experience in multiple NCAA Tournaments, he should appeal to St. John鈥檚 as it looks to make a quick turnaround under Pitino.
