AUGUSTA, Ga. (BVM) 鈥� Sam Bennett is making history at the right now. Playing as an amateur, the Texas A&M golfer is currently 8-under and just four strokes behind leader Brooks Koepka. It鈥檚 the second lowest score by an amateur after the first two rounds at the Masters. If he keeps it up he could potentially be the first ever amateur to put on a green jacket.
Even if he doesn’t, Bennett has put together a historic outing through two days at the Masters. He tied the record for lowest first nine by an amateur at the Masters and is the first amateur to have a bogey-free round at the Masters since Billy Joe Patton did it in 1965.
Bennett is following the last bit of advice his late father gave him, 鈥淒on鈥檛 wait to do something,鈥� and if he ever forgets it, he has it tattooed on his wrist.

The 23-year-old said that his first tee shot of the Masters has been the toughest part for him so far. Once he got past that first drive it鈥檚 been all about staying consistent and that鈥檚 exactly what he鈥檚 done. He has posted 68s in his first two rounds, the first amateur to do that at the Masters since 1961.
