Tramon Mark enters transfer portal; 5 possible landing spots

HOUSTON (BVM) 鈥 For the majority of the 2022-23 season, the Houston Cougars were at the top of college basketball. During the regular season, the team went an impressive 29-2, winning the American Athletic Conference regular season title while spending seven weeks atop the AP top 25.

A big reason why was thanks to a tremendous backcourt Kelvin Sampson put together. While Marcus Sasser and Jamal Shead often got the headlines, it was redshirt sophomore Tramon Mark who really made the backcourt complete.

Mark came to Houston in 2020 as a four-star recruit out of Dickinson High School in Texas. He made an immediate impact, scoring nearly eight points per game in his freshman season while seeing increased minutes as the year went on for a Houston team that made a run all the way to the Final Four.

While Mark scored over 10 points per game in 2021-22, he saw action in just seven contests after re-aggravating a previous shoulder injury in Houston鈥檚 December contest against Alabama that required season-ending surgery.

However, the 6-foot-5 guard returned to the court strong this past season on a loaded Houston squad. Averaging 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals, Mark put together 19 double-digit scoring games while having a career-best shooting year from beyond the arc.

Mark also made his name known on the biggest of stages, as with Sasser and Shead ailing, he took over the Houston backcourt with a 26-point, nine-rebound performance in the Cougars鈥 second-round NCAA Tournament victory over Auburn.

However, less than two weeks later, Mark has decided to begin a new chapter in his career. Recently, the Cougars guard announced his decision to test the NBA draft waters while also entering the transfer portal as he maintains his college eligibility.聽

While the NBA is a possibility, he is interested in playing for at the collegiate level next season. Should he return to college, here are five teams Mark could join for 2023-24.
