The Tar Heels failed to make the tournament after reaching the Final Four in 2022 but the team will still enter the season with a lot of potential. Getting star center Armando Bacot to return for one more season was crucial for the Tar Heels but starting forward Pete Nance is out of eligibility. Samuel could fill in for Nance as a capable rebounder and scorer. Samuel also showed the potential to shoot well from three during his freshman and sophomore seasons, meaning he could potentially help North Carolina space the floor with Bacot. Either way, adding Samuel would give the Tar Heels one of the better frontcourts in the country heading into next season.
