UW commit Sayvia Sellers breaks Alaska鈥檚 girls scoring record
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (BVM) 鈥� Washington Huskies basketball commit Sayvia Sellers is the new all-time leading scorer for high school girls in Alaska state history (acknowledged by the Alaska School Activities Association/ASAA).聽
Sellers is a four-star point guard ranked nationally at No. 28 by overall in the Class of 2023. At 5-foot-7, she stands noticeably smaller compared to others in the top 100, but that hasn鈥檛 stopped her from making history in the sport.聽
On March 24, the Anchorage Christian School senior broke the state scoring record at the 4A girls state championship semifinal. Watch the moment Sellers made the record-breaking bucket below. She then finished her career with 2,651 points at the state championship final on March 25.聽
2,622 points.
With this bucket, Sayvia Sellers became the Alaska Girls High School Basketball All-Time Leading Scorer, surpassing Alissa Pili.

1. 2,651 鈥� Sayvia Sellers, Anchorage Christian (2023)
2. 2,614 鈥� Alissa Pili, Dimond (2019)
3. 2,577 鈥� Elaina Mack, King Cove (2020)
4. 2,290 鈥� Brit Jacobson, Chugiak (1994)
5. 2,227 鈥� Ruthy Hebard, West Valley (2016)
Notably on that leaderboard are Pili and Hebard 鈥� both of whom have made their mark in the Pac-12. Utah鈥檚 Pili was named the 2023 after leading the league in scoring (20.3). Pili was also in the NCAAW Tournament. Former Oregon star Hebard was the (65.1) before she got drafted as the No. 8 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft.聽
Now, Sellers hopes to make her own mark in the Pac-12. The UW signee chose the Huskies over the likes of Kentucky, Arizona, Oklahoma, Washington State and Utah.聽
鈥淲hen I first started playing basketball I couldn鈥檛 really shoot,鈥� Sellers told 鈥淪o, that鈥檚 all I did was go to the basket. As I continued to play basketball I developed an outside shot, but going to the basket has always been the first thing I think of when I play.鈥�
Notably, Sellers recorded a career high of 47 points by outscoring the Colony Knights all by herself in an 87-46 victory earlier this season.聽聽

Sellers also led Anchorage Christian to against in-state opponents. Additionally, Sellers led the team to its sixth straight state title 鈥� after she netted 32 points in the over Wasilla.聽
