Meet Chambersburg Area Trojans freshman team basketball player Brennen Smith

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Brennen Smith learned to dribble a basketball almost as soon as he began to walk. He鈥檚 been playing and running point guard since he was in kindergarten, according to his parents, Ed and Angie Smith.

He began playing travel basketball for the Trojans in third grade and by fifth grade at Scotland Elementary, Brennen was scoring 28 points during a game against Cumberland Valley Christian School.

The 13-year-old is now in eighth grade at CAMS North and was invited to 鈥減lay up鈥 on the Trojan freshman team.

But he鈥檚 not just sitting the bench waiting his turn.

Brennen put up 12 points against Central Dauphin East, which some consider the most challenging team the Trojans go up against.

“Brennen is a joy to watch,鈥 said Kenny Castro. 鈥淗e is a smooth player and has some mad skills.鈥

But playing your best takes hard work and discipline and Brennen keeps his head鈥攁nd body鈥攊n the game by playing throughout the year for GC Hoops AAU team and in summer league for the Trojans. He also plays travel soccer for CYSA鈥檚 Premier League as center-mid and for the Trojans Boys鈥 junior varsity soccer team.
And the young teen has been just as disciplined off the court. He is a Presidential Honor Roll student.

Brennen said he hopes to play for D1 college basketball for Penn State and hopes one day to play in the NBA.

Way to go, Brennen!
