鈥淚t has always been a dream of mine to play at ECU. Coach William and Coach Cato are both great coaches and I can鈥檛 wait to start playing for them.鈥

APA鈥檚 golf coach, Rickie Killinger, says 鈥淒rew has a great opportunity at ECU and I鈥檓 so happy for him! He鈥檚 dreamt of playing golf for the Pirates since childhood. Coach Kevin Williams is very familiar with him, as he has seen him develop over the years. He knows exactly what he鈥檚 getting in a competitor and a player who will work hard to improve every aspect of his game to make the team better.鈥

Drew can barely remember a time without a golf club in his hand. He explains, 鈥淚 have been golfing my whole life. Growing up playing golf with my dad and grandad has allowed me to have great memories with them and love the game of golf.鈥

Drew鈥檚 grandfather also played at East Carolina, making the decision to play at ECU even more special. He looks forward to his family being able to watch him play as a Pirate, while cheering him on at local courses.

Playing competitively since the sixth grade, Drew ranks high amongst his peers and has won extremely well-earned championships. In 2021, Drew took home the Coastal Plains Junior Championship in front of family and friends at the Greenville Country Club.

Coach Killinger has witnessed Drew鈥檚 growth as a player and his 鈥渄evelopment into an honorable young man.鈥 The golf coach explains, 鈥淒rew has developed into a great leader for our team. He has a desire to both inspire and help others improve through his example of focused practice and patience with player of all levels. He鈥檚 a model of sportsmanship in his display of integrity and respect for others.鈥

Last year the young golfer won the 2022 TYGA Down East Junior Championship, as well as being named the EPIC Conference Player of the Year. Drew has played in the EPIC All-Conference since the eighth grade, enjoying traveling across the state each summer with the players he has met throughout the years.

Drew says, 鈥淣ow I will get to play with and against some of those guys in my college career and I鈥檓 really looking forward to it.鈥

Drew will begin training this fall with the East Carolina program, continuing to practice throughout the school year to compete in two seasons of tournaments. The Pirate men鈥檚 golf schedule for the 2023-2024 school year will be announced in August and Drew is excited for the challenge.
