2023 March Madness 1st round bracket breakdown: East Region
Final prediction for the East Region
The East seems to be a region where the unpredictable could happen beyond the first round. That begins at the top of the bracket, where although Purdue has been strong, they could be susceptible to a loss in the Round of 32 to a hot Memphis team, or in the Sweet 16 to Duke.
In the bottom half of the bracket, it would not be surprising to see Kentucky avenge its upset loss to Saint Peter’s last year and make a run to the Sweet 16 as a No. 6 seed this year.Â
While Memphis, Kentucky and Kansas State could be dark horses, it ultimately feels like Purdue, Duke or Marquette will represent the East Region in the Final Four. With what will likely be an easier path to Houston, look for Marquette to secure a Final Four bid.
