Chillicothe, Zane Trace and Unioto swimmers compete at district meet
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Cavaliers, Zane Trace Pioneers, and Unioto Shermans were well represented at the 2023 Division II district swim meet at the Ohio State鈥檚 McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023.

The Cavaliers would have the strongest showing at the district meet as they competed in nine events at districts to take seventh place overall.
For individual showings, Ryan Blum took third place with a time of 52.76 in the boys 100-yard butterfly to automatically qualify for a state trip and Jake Byrd placed seventh with a time of 1:48.38 in the boys 200-yard freestyle and fourth with a time of 4:56.59 to qualify for state in both events.
Other individual competitors for Chillicothe included Thomas Kessler who took 14th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.91 and 21st in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.31, Ian Montgomery who took 23rd in the 200-yard IM with a time 2:24:47 and 29th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.29, Isaac Crawford who took 27th in the 200-yard IM with a time 2:32.94, Aidan Montgomery who took 24th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56:31, Noah Hickman-Beck who took 28th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:04.64, and Matthew Remley who took 32 in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.56.

For relays, Chillicothe took 10th in the boys 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:50.63, sixth in the boys 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.34, and fifth in the boys 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:27.50
For the Pioneers, Wyatt Vick and Alayna Butler competed in individual as well as several relay teams.
Vick would take 14th with a time of 1:06.62 in the boys 100-yard breaststroke and 24th with a time of 2:04.13 in the boys 200-yard freestyle.
Senior Alayna Butler would finish up her high school swim season taking 13th in the girls 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.10 and 12th in the girls 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.51.
The Zane Trace boys competed in several relay events, including the 200-yard freestyle relay placing 17th with a time of 1:44.44, 400-yard freestyle relay placing 19th with a time of 4:08.15, 200-yard medley relay placing 20th with a time of 1:59.45.
For the girls, Zane Trace competed in the 200-yard medley relay placing 21st with a time of 2:12.54.
Unioto would send one swimmer to Districts. Junior Keegan Fisk would place 13th in the boys 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.91.
