Centerville girls lacrosse team prepares for season’s start

DAYTON, Ohio — The Lady Elks lacrosse team will have 10 home games and six away games this season that will run from Mar. 17-May 11, followed by Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) tournament games. New opponents in this season’s lineup include Lakota West in northern Cincinnati and Pickerington Central in Columbus.

The Lady Elks are planning events or themes for each home game this season, to build excitement and spike interest in the Centerville community about the oldest game in North America and the fastest game on two feet. One event they are eagerly anticipating is the One Love Foundation Night on Mar. 28. One Love Foundation is a national nonprofit organization, with the goal of ending relationship abuse.

As the team’s new head coach this season, I bring a new level of experience, energy and enthusiasm to the program. In addition to coaching previously, I played for Pennsylvania State University and am currently a collegiate level women’s lacrosse referee.

We want to thank our lacrosse families, sponsors, the Centerville community, the Centerville Athletic Department and Booster Club, for supporting our various fundraising efforts this past fall. As a result of their support, we were able to purchase new uniforms and warm-up suits for our JV and varsity teams. We are incredibly excited to kick off this new season and accelerate the student-athletes to new levels. We hope to see you start your St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Legacy Field, as we open the season with Carroll High School.
