Chelsea XC coach Trey Lee earns Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year award
CHELSEA, Ala. — In his second full season as head cross country coach and track and field coach at Chelsea High School, Trey Lee is honored by receiving the 2022 US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association – Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year award.
This award was received on the heels of Lee鈥檚 Chelsea High School Girls Cross Country Team鈥檚 State Championship, their first season competing at the state鈥檚 top level.聽 Lee was honored to receive this award, but reflects that it is a group effort. Lee leads his talented athletes with other coaches, like distance coach, Scott Fuqua and multis coach, Jennifer VanOekel. They keep him honest and grounded and their shared knowledge makes him a better coach.
Coach Lee鈥檚 enthusiasm for his teams鈥 success is tremendous.聽 He has even done literal back flips when his teams perform well.
Several Dunnavant Valley students run track for Chelsea High School and are fortunate to be coached by Trey Lee.聽 Freshman Luke Dollar says, 鈥淐oach Lee is a very fun guy who is easy for the team to rally around, but he will also make sure hard work gets done in order for us to improve.鈥
