What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Terry: My biggest challenge in hockey is that we play great competition. To be the best player you can possibly be, you need to have a great practice every practice and great game every game. You also have to work as hard as you can to play to your highest potential.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Terry: The best advice I have been told was my freshman year of high school. That advice was, don鈥檛 take hockey in high school hockey for granted it goes quick, and sure enough it does. That is a piece of advice that has stuck with me throughout my whole high school career.
What do you love about your sport?
Terry: I love everything about hockey, practice, games, team dinners, bonding with the whole team, and working hard to get better each and every day. Hockey has taught me so many life lessons, it has made me a better teammate and a better person, both on and off the ice.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Terry: Yes, every game day it is important that I am well prepared for the game. Being focused is key and making sure you are stretched well is huge. Having headphones and listening to music helps me focus the best. I have been doing it for so long where it becomes natural to have everything I need to be ready to go for a game.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?聽
Terry: Outside of hockey, I like to be with my family and hangout with all of my friends. Also, during the summer I love to be on the lake.
What has being a member of a team taught you?聽
Terry: Being on a team has taught me to always take and give advice, and listen to what is being told to you. It has taught me to be a better person and leader. Lead by example, it taught me to be a better friend, and most importantly it shows that even when times are tough keep your head up and keep pushing through it. Trust the process because it will pay off.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Terry: The best piece of advice I have received was being told every time you walk in that rink give it your all, off ice, practice, game doesn’t matter, give it 110 percent every time and it will all pay off in the end.
