Johns Creek wrestling season nearing end
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — The 2022-2023 Johns Creek wrestling season is in the home stretch of their season and what a season it has been.聽 The season started back in October when 29 wrestlers started practicing, the largest number of wrestlers since Head Coach Ken Richau took over the program in 2018.
The Varsity has participated in the Lassiter Invitational, Buford Invitational, Jackson Scrambler, traveled to Tennessee for the McCallie Invitational, Jefferson Invitational and the Hook em Holiday Invitational at Lambert High School. The Team has posted a 6-4 Dual Record with wins over Wesleyan, Pace Academy, Mt. Zion Carroll, Roswell, and Alpharetta twice.聽 On January 7th Johns Creek hosted the GHSA 6A Region 7 Team Duals and placed 4th losing only to Lassiter and Blessed Trinity (41-38) thus becoming the first wrestling team in the 15 year history of the school to qualify for the GHSA 6A Section Team Duals. The team still has competitions left at the section duals, Wednesday January 18th Senior night Tri-Match with Northview and Centennial, Campbell Invitational, Region Individual at Lassiter , Section Individual which Johns Creek will host on Saturday February 11th, and the Georgia State Tournament held in Macon to go in their season.
The Johns Creek wrestling program is a young program which is led by Senior Captain Will Lipsitz (215 weight class, 18-7 and ranked #4 in the State at 6A), Junior Captain Brock Hacker (190 weight class, 33-4 and ranked #1 in the State at 6A and placed 4th in the State as a Sophomore in 2022), Junior Captain Emmauel Smith (120 weight class), and Sophomore Captain Conor Eggleston (175 weight class, 25-14) the Varsity is rounded out by Freshman Tristan McCloskey (106 weight class), Sophomore Bryce Simmons (113 weight class), Riley Kallos (126 weight class), Junior鈥檚 Denis Whalen & Christian Robb (132 weight class), Senior Beeraj Rana (138 weight class), Junior Parsa Bahreinian (144 weight class), Junior Daniel Frascino (150 weight class), Sophomore Javin Seay (157 weight class), Sophomore Jamaile Wysinger (165 weight class) and Senior Sebastian Baron.
The Junior Varsity team is Freshman Brayden Presley, Asher Sam鈥檚, Gabriel Waldner, Julian Amador, Sophomore鈥檚 Justin Park, Chris Chun, Jaidan Pham, Junior鈥檚 Felipe Baron, Matthew Scala, Daniel Bailez, and Senior Mustafa Nour.
The Coaching Staff consists of Head Coach Ken Richau and Assistants Travis Hacker and Callen Gillison.
The 2022-2023 season isn鈥檛 over yet and looks to finish on a high note with individual accomplishments left to conquer for this hard working, motivated, and dedicated group of young men. Watch out, the best is yet to come for the Johns Creek High School Wrestling Program.
