Meet Fossil Ridge swimmer, Miami University commit Kenadie Glasgow

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Kenadie Glasgow is living her dream that she had since she was young. She had always wanted to be a collegiate athlete, and now that dream is coming true. She is signed to swim for Miami University in Ohio starting this fall. What an exciting time for this Fossil Ridge HS senior!

Swimming is the only sport that Kenadie has enjoyed enough to stick with over the years; she has been swimming since she was just five years old. That type of dedication to a single sport has allowed Kenadie to excel. With intense focus on improving her skills and strength, Kenadie has learned to center her attention on improving herself and to stay in the moment. While swimming she isn鈥檛 able to talk with anyone or worry about what is happening with others. This gives her time to think and to work on herself. Swimming is an individual sport so you need to focus and work on yourself. However, being part of a team gives her support, and it helps the entire team to push each other during practices and then to cheer each other on during competitions. The camaraderie is a true value to her. Besides having fun, Kenadie says she has learned to appreciate that positive environment to help her grow stronger and be a better person individually. Kenadie also works hard to pass this on to others while working at the USA Swim Academy.聽

To get ready for competition, Kenadie enjoys listening to music with her teammates on the way to meets. Once at the meet, she focuses on her specific warmups to get ready, and then right before she swims, she focuses on how she is going to swim the race in front of her. Because swimmers use so much energy, they need to refuel. Some of Kenadie鈥檚 favorite snack foods are fruit snacks and Cheez-its!聽

When Kenadie is not swimming she enjoys spending time with family and with friends. Hiking is a fond activity to spend with either company, as she just loves being in the mountains, and of course she lives in the perfect spot for that! Her family also loves to travel, and on their vacations one of their favorite activities is scuba diving.聽

For those that know Kenadie, they know a loyal friend and teammate. She believes in working hard to achieve her goals. One of the best pieces of advice came from a coach who said, “know the work you have to put in and know that you are capable of reaching your goals with hard work and perseverance.” Kenadie has never forgotten this. She has also learned to listen more closely to her body. There are times that you shouldn鈥檛 push through the pain, and she learned this the hard way. After taking a step back and doing rehab for her injury, she came through the experience smarter and stronger than ever.聽

We wish Kenadie and her teammates all the best in finishing up their season this month. Plus, it will be exciting to watch her as she goes on to swim as a RedHawk. Best wishes, Kenadie!
