Get to know Swan Valley basketball player Rachel Resio
SAGINAW, Mich. — Every senior has a bunch of 鈥渇irst lasts鈥 during their final year of high school.聽 Rachel Resio of Swan Valley has already hit a few of those 鈥渇irst lasts鈥 this year.聽 This past fall, she oversaw the revival of Lady Vikes Football and played on the winning senior team.聽 She now heads into her last year of high school basketball with a focus on closing out a successful career and moving on to the next level.
Rachel has been playing basketball for eleven years, including her last four years of high school. When she was young, Resio鈥檚 dad influenced her to start playing basketball.聽 She is now the point guard for the Swan Valley Varsity Girls Basketball Team.聽 Under Rachel鈥檚 leadership, the Lady Vikes have started their season off strong with wins on the road against Saginaw High and Hemlock.
Rachel is approaching the 1000-point career mark and is only 156 points away from passing it.聽 Her favorite sport is basketball, and she would do anything and everything to be a part of it.聽 To help develop her game, she has played travel basketball for a couple of teams in the off-season.
Resio is looking to pursue basketball in college and wants to eventually become a coach in the future. She is really good with kids of all ages and would be perfect for teaching the youth how to play the game.
Rachel鈥檚 ultimate goal is to play basketball in college, preferably Division II.聽 She is waiting until the end of her high school basketball season to make a commitment of where she will continue her education and basketball career.聽 Resio has a good mindset for college and is ready to see what the future has in store for her.聽 While in college, she wants to go into the athletic career field.
The Swan Valley Varsity Girls Basketball Team is looking to win a conference championship and then another district title 2 years in a row.聽 The Lady Vikes have started their season out with a bang and are looking to keep the ball rolling!聽 Keep a lookout for great things to come!
