Clarkston boys hockey defeats Lake Orion for first time in five years
CLARKSTON, Mich. — For the first time in 5 year the Clarkston Wolves Boys hockey team has taken down their cross town rivals the Lake Orion Dragons in an OAA Red Division battle. The game, played Thursday, December 9th at the Detroit Skate Club, was important for the Wolves as they came into the game undefeated on the season.
The Wolves played well all game but entered the third period down 1-0. The team clinched the victory in the final 10 minutes scoring three unanswered goals. The first goal came at 9:15 from Owen Crosten, scoring from the circle. The next goal, the game winner, came at 4:13 as Theo Walker finished a loose puck in front of the net. And the final goal came from Blake Botterill on an empty net with 18 seconds left.
The Dragons goalie, Ethan Parraghi had a great game and kept his team in it stopping 28 of 30 shots but the Wolves put on a dominant third period performance keeping Lake Orion to only 4 shots and controlling play in their offensive zone most of the period. Lake Orion’s goal was scored by Luca Chiarini on the power play with 28 seconds left in the first period.
Clarkston goal tender Calum Hartner also put on a tremendous performance stopping 23 out of 24 shots to give the Wolves’ offense time to get activated.
The win brings the Wolves to 6-0 this season and 3-0 in divisional play. Go Wolves!
