College basketball’s top 10 freshmen so far in 2022-23 season
3. Kyle Filipowski, C, Duke
Filipowski has been as advertised early on in the season for Duke, and has shined as one of the top centers in the entire country. The 7-footer is currently averaging over 14 points and nine rebounds per game, and has had double-doubles in nearly half of the Blue Devils’ games this season. Filipowski’s play has been much needed with fairly slow starts from other heralded freshmen in Dereck Lively II and Mark Mitchell, and has helped the Blue Devils to a 10-3 start and a team that looks like they will be in the mix once again in March under first-year head coach Jon Scheyer.
Too big, too skilled.
