Urbana Hawks volleyball wins Maryland 4A Championship
IJAMSVILLE, Md. — From their first regular season win through every match of the playoffs the Urbana Hawks proved to be a determined, resilient team.聽 On November 17, 2022, fighting point for point, the Hawks defeated the Arundel Wildcats in 5 heart-pounding sets to win the Maryland 4A Championship!
The Hawks succeeded in breaking Arundel’s 30-match winning streak and ended their hopes of a fourth straight 4A state title.聽 聽The Hawk’s Championship victory marks the first program history.聽 聽About their States win Head Coach Jerry Burge had this to say, “I am so proud of this team.聽 What makes them special is their commitment to each other and to the success of the team.”聽 聽Coach Burge, along with assistant Shannon Veillette, led the team to a 20-3 record overall.
