Q&A with Liberty County all-region football player Ron C. Golden Jr.
HINESVILLE, Ga. — Congratulations to junior, Ron C. Golden Jr. #9, who the Liberty County High School Panthers named all-region first team offense. At the age of 17, Ron has played football for three years and has also participated in basketball and baseball.
We thought you would enjoy learning more about him by asking him a few questions.
What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Ron C. Golden Jr.: My personal goals, within football, are to make it to the professional level and compete to my best ability.
What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Golden Jr.: My biggest challenge in football is getting noticed in the recruiting process for the next level and how I鈥檓 managing this challenge is by trusting God and willing to receive any advice to help me in my recruiting process.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Golden Jr.: The best advice I was given was to 鈥淏elieve in yourself even when no one else will and trust in God.鈥
What do you love about your sport?
Golden Jr.: What I love about football is that it is an aggressive sport and I love the competitive spirit that lives within the sport. It brings me joy and peace every time I step foot on the field.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Golden Jr.: My pregame ritual is that I always talk to God and thank him for allowing me to play the sport that I love.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Golden Jr.: What I like to do outside football is to go fishing and listen to music.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Golden Jr.: Being a member of a team has taught me that in life you can鈥檛 succeed alone. Two men are better than one and once you are able to accept help, it will make life for you a little less challenging.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Golden Jr.: The best advice I鈥檝e received from a coach is 鈥淣ever let you expectation be higher than your work ethic.鈥
Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.
Golden Jr.: Being a wide receiver playing football, dropping balls are simple mistakes we make. How I overcome these mistakes is I leave it in the past and focus on the next play and make sure to catch every ball thrown to me.

Golden Jr.: Always show respect, and have integrity. You can do anything you put your mind to. Never let excuses get in the way of accomplishing your dream. No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small. Put your faith and trust in God. I would like to thank God for my mom (Rosemary), my dad (Ron Sr.), my younger brother (Ryan), and all my family members, friends and church family. They have made me who I am today. I can鈥檛 wait to see what the future holds.
