Q&A with Liberty County all-region football player Carlos Singleton
HINESVILLE, Ga. — Congratulations to quarterback junior Carlos Singleton聽 #3, who the Liberty County High School Panthers placed on the all-region first team offense.聽 At the age of 17, Carlos has played football for 16 years and has also participated in baseball.
We thought you would enjoy learning more about him by asking him a few questions.
What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Carlos Singleton: My dreams are to get an athletic scholarship and become successful in the future to the point I will be able to provide for my school and family.
What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Singleton: In football, my biggest challenge is learning the opponents team’s defense.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Singleton: The best advice I received was to not play down to the other team, always play the way you play.
What do you love about your sport?
Singleton: I love that I can build trust with my teammates to the point I consider them my family.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Singleton: My pregame ritual is really just praying to God and making sure everyone is out of harm’s way.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Singleton: I like to hang out with my friends and go out.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Singleton: Being a member of a team has taught me that you are always going to have people to back you up when you do something wrong, you don’t have to worry about your teammates chewing you up for a mistake.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Singleton: The best advice I received from a coach is that I have a lot of potential to be great.聽 I just need to work for it.
Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.
Singleton: When I make a mistake in a game, I go back to the sideline and watch that play that I had trouble with and find things that will work and help benefit the team.
