Get to know Wylie HS football player Mitchell George
WYLIE, Texas — In football, one of the marks of a good receiver, besides having good hands, is how hard they fight for the ball. Whether during practice or a game, they always want the ball to be put into their hands. Mitchell George, a wide receiver on the Wylie High School football team, is no different. Mitchell is happiest when he is his quarterback鈥檚 鈥済o-to鈥 man.
With a good work ethic and strong motivation, his love for the game is evident. Even when Mitchell is feeling tired, sore, or unmotivated, walking into practice sparks his fire of competitiveness. One of the best pieces of advice he has received is 鈥淚f you put in the work then it will show no matter what you鈥檙e doing.鈥 He finds his strength and motivation in the Bible, specifically Philippians 4:13 鈥淚 can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.鈥
One of the aspects of football Mitchell enjoys is that it is a team sport. He knows that no single person can win a game and it takes every player committed to doing their part for the team to be successful. Having to work together as a team also builds camaraderie and a support system between all the players that carry over into both their school days and everyday lives.
Mitchell would love to play football at the collegiate level, but if that is not an option, then he is interested in studying in the field of Agriculture at Oklahoma State University. His desire to enter this discipline has grown significantly after becoming a member of the Wylie chapter of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and having the opportunity to raise and show his pig.
Mitchell not only earned achievements on the field with his football team by posting a near-perfect win-loss record of 9-1, but he also earned a championship buckle in showmanship at a jackpot with his pig.
