LSU commit Trey Holly now Louisiana鈥檚 all-time rushing king
FARMERVILLE, La. (BVM) 鈥 Exceptional athletes come through the high school ranks and enter the history books every so often. Union Parish鈥檚 Trey Holly did that this season when he became Louisiana’s all-time rushing leader.听聽
At 5-foot-8, 180 pounds, Holly finds himself as the No. 16 ranked running back in the nation, according to . But his love for football started at an early age with inspiration from his grandfather and his mother.听
鈥淚鈥檝e been playing football since I was old enough to grab one,鈥 Holly said.听
Holly continued to improve his play, and when he reached eighth grade, he took his skills to the varsity level. He didn’t disappoint as he rushed for 849 yards and scored 10 touchdowns that season, .听
Holly put himself on the map with his performances as an eighth grader. But heading into high school, he鈥檇 only amplify expectations for himself.听
He rushed for a total of 4,237 yards in his first two prep seasons, living up to those expectations. He also crossed the goal line 65 times, validating the start of his impressive prep career.

Holly headed into his junior season, still hungry to prove that he could dominate on the gridiron. He showed his play on the field was for real and aimed to make history with his family’s love and support.
鈥淜nowing that they have been behind me and supportive throughout this whole experience is a blessing,鈥 Holly said.听
His junior campaign saw him rush for 2,633 yards and score 33 TDs. Holly was 1,728 yards away from breaking Louisiana鈥檚 all-time rushing record held by (8,708 rushing yards).
Holly continued his dominating ways into his senior season by breaking Brossette鈥檚 record in the Farmers鈥 fourth game of the season.
鈥淚t made me feel proud,鈥 Holly said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an unexplainable feeling.鈥

Holly held multiple offers from DI colleges thanks to his play on the field. He had interest from Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, FSU, Oregon, USC and others. Holly ultimately decided to stay home and play for Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers.听

Holly remains focused on the conclusion of his high school career, but Tiger fans should expect another hard worker and a great overall person to enter Baton Rouge.听
鈥淎s a player, they should expect a determined, focused and eager player,鈥 Holly said. 鈥淎s a person, they can expect a down-to-earth young man.鈥
Many people have had a significant impact on Holly鈥檚 journey. He鈥檚 also done much to improve himself on and off the gridiron. But if there鈥檚 one thing Holly will remember as he continues his football career, it鈥檚 those who have been behind him for his whole life.听
鈥淚t means a lot to me to know that I have so many people rooting for me, young and old,鈥 Holly said. 鈥淭hey look up to me, and it means the world to me.鈥
